How Did We Get Our Start? In 1992, Robert Berman, an aspiring playwright with an entrepreneurial spirit, moved to the Jersey Shore for the summer. There, he made wool dreadlocks, glued them into a baseball cap, wore it out to a bar on Long Beach Island, NJ, and sold it off his head for 20 dollars and a beer. That began Rasta Imposta!

Previous to this, in 1992, Robert Berman created the Original Tam Dreadlocks Hat and sold it off his head for 20 dollars and a beer. With that success, Robert was inspired to make new styles of novelty hats and expanded Rasta Imposta to include original costumes and accessories.
